Janatics A23050040O Installation Guide | Pneumatic Cylinder Setup Checklist

Janatics A23050040O Quick Start Installation Checklist (Mounting, Ports, Speed Control & Sensor Setup)

This checklist helps you install and commission Janatics A23050040O (A23 Series) 50×40mm Basic Magnetic, Double Acting Pneumatic Cylinder correctly on the first attempt. Use it for machine commissioning, maintenance replacement, and field troubleshooting.

1) Before Installation (Must-Check)

✅ Confirm the following before mounting the cylinder:

  • Bore × Stroke: 50 mm × 40 mm

  • Acting Type: Double acting

  • Magnetic piston: Yes (sensor-ready)

  • Air quality: Clean, dry air recommended

  • Correct valve: 5/2 valve for double acting operation

  • FRL installed: Filter + regulator (lubricator if required by plant standard)

2) Mechanical Mounting Checklist

✅ Prevent bending, seal wear, and early failures:

  • Cylinder body is mounted rigidly (no vibration/loose bracket).

  • Rod movement path is perfectly aligned with load direction.

  • Avoid side-load on rod (use guide rods or linear guide if load is offset).

  • Ensure sufficient clearance for full 40 mm stroke + safety clearance.

  • Fasteners tightened correctly (avoid over-tightening and thread damage).

Basic cylinder note:
This model is a basic type—mounting accessories (foot/flange/clevis) are selected separately if needed.

3) Pneumatic Connections (Ports & Fittings)

✅ Correct plumbing avoids leaks and slow response:

  • Confirm port thread type matches your fittings (commonly G thread).

  • Use proper sealing method (PTFE tape or approved sealant for threaded fittings).

  • Tubing cut clean and inserted fully into push-in fittings.

  • No kinks, no crushed tubing, and minimum bends near ports.

  • Keep pneumatic lines short where possible for faster response.

✅ Use flow control valves for smooth motion:

  • Install flow control on cylinder ports (meter-out preferred for stability).

  • Start with flow controls partially open, then tune gradually.

  • Ensure speed is not too high to avoid end impact (“bang”).

  • If repeated high-speed cycling → cushioning + tuned flow control is mandatory.

5) Cushioning Adjustment (If Adjustable)

✅ Reduce impact and improve cycle life:

  • Start with cushioning open (not fully closed).

  • Run slow cycles first, then increase speed gradually.

  • If hard impact at end stroke → increase cushioning gradually.

  • If cylinder stalls near end → cushioning may be too tight (open slightly).

6) Sensor Installation (Magnetic Piston)

✅ For reed/proximity sensors on cylinder body:

  • Use magnetic-cylinder compatible sensors only.

  • Mount sensor in the correct slot/position on the cylinder body.

  • Slide sensor along body to find the detection zone and lock in place.

  • Check wiring type: PNP/NPN and supply voltage compatibility.

  • Route sensor cable away from VFD/servo power lines (noise avoidance).

7) Commissioning Test Procedure (Fast)

✅ Perform this exact sequence:

  1. Set regulator to low pressure and check for leaks.

  2. Run cylinder no-load at slow speed (extend + retract).

  3. Verify full stroke completion both directions.

  4. Tune flow controls for smooth motion.

  5. Adjust cushioning to reduce end impact.

  6. Mount load and repeat cycles; check alignment and side load.

  7. Verify sensor detection at end positions (if used).

8) Common Installation Mistakes (Avoid These)

❌ Side-load on rod → bending + seal wear
❌ No FRL/filter → contamination and sticking
❌ Wrong fitting thread or poor sealing → leaks
❌ Over-tightening ports → cracked threads
❌ No flow control at high speed → shock damage
❌ Wrong sensor type → no detection
